39th Environmental Permitting Summer School

Updated for 2025! This panel will explore the complex intersection of energy reliability, affordability, and environmental responsibility in Florida’s evolving power sector. With a new federal administration signaling a potential shift toward deregulation and more flexible compliance frameworks, panelists will examine how these changes could affect energy providers and long-term energy planning across the state. Topics will include the latest updates to EPA’s carbon dioxide (CO₂) emission standards for new and existing fossil-fuel-fired electric generating units, the expanding interest in carbon capture, sequestration, and hydrogen co-firing in future compliance strategies. The session will also highlight innovations in methane detection from landfills and preview expected changes to federal emissions standards for solid waste facilities.
