Updated for 2025! This panel will explore the complex intersection of energy reliability, affordability, and environmental responsibility in Florida’s evolving power sector. With a new federal administration signaling a potential shift toward deregulation and more flexible compliance frameworks, panelists will examine how these changes could affect energy providers and long-term energy planning across the state. Topics will include the latest updates to EPA’s carbon dioxide (CO₂) emission standards for new and existing fossil-fuel-fired electric generating units, the expanding interest in carbon capture, sequestration, and hydrogen co-firing in future compliance strategies. The session will also highlight innovations in methane detection from landfills and preview expected changes to federal emissions standards for solid waste facilities. Audience participation is encouraged.
